UPDATE: Victim in Macon Lake Wildwood car accident identified
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Derrick Gordon, 36, is the man who was killed in a single car accident in Macon Sunday afternoon.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones notified the next of kin.
Gordon was from Macon.
Gordon was trapped underneath a tow truck after he crashed into a ditch in Lake Wildwood. Firefighters were able to pull him out, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man is dead after a single car accident in Lake Wildwood Sunday afternoon.
It happened at the intersection of Conestoga Trail and Santa Fe Trail around 12:40 p.m.
Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies saw a man trapped under a 1999 UD Tow Truck when they arrived.
Macon-Bibb firefighters were able to get the man out from under the truck, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name isn’t being released yet until next of kin is notified.
Bibb Sheriff’s investigators believe the victim was the one driving the car.
Deputies were told the car was traveling north on Conestoga Trail toward Santa Fe Trail and the driver’s door appeared to be open. The car veered off to the right side of the road, hitting tree limbs and a ditch before stopping in the ditch with the man pinned underneath.
