Knights women beat Brewton-Parker, extend winning streak to 4

COCHRAN, Georgia (MGAKNIGHTS.COM) – The Knights women defeated Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) member and their closest rival geographically on Thursday defeating Brewton Parker College 59-33. The Knights moved to 9-8 on the season and back over .500 for the first time since December getting their 3rd win against a SSAC opponent.

The Knights and Lady Barons went back and forth with 4 lead changes and 6 ties all in the first half. The score was tied at 17 with 6:45 remaining in the first half before an 11-4 run by the Knights provided a 7 point half time lead. The Knights came out in the second half to extend their lead to 14 at the 15 minute mark and eventually extended their lead to 29 with 4:24 remaining in the game and eventually winning by 26.

The Knights were led in scoring by Tascianna Taylor (SO/Macon, GA) with 17 points while she grabbed 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and led the team with 4 assists. Shaketa Hodges (JR/Macon, GA) scored 14 while nabbing 5 more steals to bring her total to 23 over the last 4 games. Jamarra Taylor (JR/Bessemer, AL) also added 13 points and TyAsia Grayer (FR/Macon, GA) grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Knights on the glass. The team grabbed a total of 14 steals on 28 Baron turnovers.

The Knights next game is Saturday the 24th at College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, GA at 2:00 PM followed by the men at 4:00 PM in the same venue. The Knights return home on Thursday January 29th at 5:30 PM to host Martin Methodist (men at 7:30 PM) and then on Saturday the 31st against Auburn University at Montgomery at 1:00 PM (men at 3:00 PM).
