Kids get ready for class with “Back to School Jamboree”

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Department prepares kids for class with its annual ‘Back to School Jamboree.’

More than 200 children, and their families attended the giveaway event at the Forthill Park in Macon on Eastview Avenue.

Children of all ages received book bags, pencils, binders, paper and other school necessities.

Lt. Ellis Sinclair says the event allows officers to connect with the kids they’ll serve during the school year.

“It helps build a positive relationship with our child, especially with our campus police officer who are in the schools with our children on a daily basis,” says Sinclair.

Tomorrow, July 29 officers plan to visit Village Green Park, and Wednesday, July 30 at the L.H.WilliamsSchoolPark to continue the giveaway event.
