Keeping organized: Preparing for 2016
Before you know it, the tax season will be front and center, so Andi suggests you begin a folder for when those tax forms show up at your doorstep. This way, you can easily keep track of all of your W-2’s and 1099’s.
Next tip is to go ahead and get a 2016 calendar. You can spend a few minutes going through it and filling out important dates you already know about beforehand, like vacations and birthdays.
Thirdly, if you find yourself having some downtime on your holiday break, Andi says you can use those extra moments to clear out any unwanted mail in your email’s inbox. Sometimes those can become cluttered with hundreds, if not thousands of messages.
Lastly, laundry baskets don’t necessarily need to carry laundry. Grab one and take inventory of anything in your house that’s just taking up space you don’t want around anymore. You can take those items to a donation location to get it out of the house, and possibly take a write-off on your taxes. Then those receipts for your charitable contributions can go right into that tax folder you made.
