Jones County clerk convicted of shoplifting from Walmart
EATONTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Connie Mize, the Jones County clerk arrested in May for shoplifting at a Putnam County Walmart, has been convicted with a shoplifting misdemeanor.
According to Putnam County officials, Mize is charged with 12 months probation, 10 days in jail, 96 hours of community service as well as paying a $1,000 fine.
She was arrested for not scanning several items in a self check-out line in May.
41NBC reached out to Jones County Chair Preston Hawkins.
He says Mize’s future as county clerk will be up to the board of commissioners.
They’ll decide if she’ll continue at their board meeting next week.
