MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Jack in the Box restaurant could be coming to Gray Highway, according to a draft agenda released by the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission.

The proposal, submitted by Macon Vortex PropCo LLC and listed on the commission’s May 11 draft agenda, calls for converting an existing restaurant at 1014 Gray Highway into a new Jack in the Box. Hardee’s formerly occupied the building.

According to application documents, the request is for a conditional use to allow a drive-in restaurant at the site.

Plans show the project would reuse much of the existing building, including the drive-thru, while updating the exterior, signage and interior layout to meet company standards.

The restaurant would include 42 parking spaces and seating for 53 customers, with operations planned seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The Planning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider the request during its May 11 meeting at the Macon Mall.

41NBC reported in 2024 that the restaurant had plans to expand into Georgia. Right now, the only Peach State location listed on jackinthebox.com is in Hinesville.

According to a company news release in 2024, the restaurant is known for its “iconic menu that features customer favorites like burgers, tacos, chicken sandwiches, milkshakes, breakfast, and late-night snacking options.”
