Ivey City Council rejects petition to reinstate police chief
IVEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Ivey City Council rejected the petition to reinstate former police chief John Richards.
Nearly 380 names were signed to the petition, but, since they did not include addresses, the council rejected it.
Last week, the board unanimously voted to force Richards to resign.
“It’s good to know you have so many friends that will support you when you’ve been done wrong, at no fault of your own,” said Richards.
Richards tells 41nbc, he is looking into getting a lawyer.
He says, he was never given a warning his job was in jeopardy.
