Howard High senior accuses school coach of discrimination

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Howard High School teen claims one of the school’s coaches is discriminating against him.

Myles Hunter said the coach told him he can’t be on the team because “he doesn’t accept kids from group homes” and it was too late for him to join the team last year. Hunter also claims boys on the team said racial slurs to him. Hunter’s family filed a complaint with the Bibb County School Board.

A spokesperson from the district said they have received the complaint and are looking into it. The district can’t discuss the details of an active investigation. The school board sent 41NBC a statement saying, “The Bibb County School District takes all allegations seriously and we appreciate that this concern was brought to our attention so that we may investigate it thoroughly.”
