Houston County kindergarten registration underway

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Preschoolers in Houston County are getting ready to take that big step into kindergarten.

Registration for Houston County kindergarteners is underway. It started May 1.

Nearly sixty five students registered on Thursday, and more than ten registered Friday.

School officials say they have avoided long lines and long waits during this year’s registration, and that is because parents can register online using the Houston County Board of Education’s website.

“It speeds up our time a lot it would take an average of, when a parent would normally take 40 minutes to fill out paperwork and then for us to type it,” says Valerie Noah, Houston County Board of Education Secretary. “It’s now down about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how many people we have because all that information is pre-typed in.”

Noah says this is the first time they have used the online system.
She says district will likely continue using it in the future because it’s been very effective.
