Woman in critical condition after van strikes her on Houston Avenue

Deputies say the woman was lying in the roadway near Charlotte Street when she was struck Wednesday night.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 42-year-old woman is in critical condition after a van struck her as she lay in the roadway on Houston Avenue Wednesday night, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said it happened just before 8:11 p.m. near the intersection of Charlotte Street.

Deputies say a 69-year-old man was driving a white van when it struck the woman. Deputies made contact with the driver at the scene.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Deputies say her name will be released after her family is notified.

The collision remains under investigation.
