Heating Energy Assistance offered to low income families

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Bibb Economic Opportunity Council Inc. will be offering heating assistance to people 65 years or older, residents who are homebound and individuals who have life threatening medical conditions.

Starting Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. residents can begin calling (478) 207-6380 to set an appointment. Applicants must be able to bring the following to their interview:

-most recent energy bill (within the last 30 days)
-proof of income (within the last 30 days such as pay stubs or a letter from an employer)
-Georgia Driver’s License or I.D.)
-social security card for all household members
-medical statement for applicants who have life threatening medical conditions.

To qualify for assistance, applicants must have a yearly household income less than or equal to 60 percent of the state median income.
