Harris takes over as CGTC women’s basketball coach

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Central Georgia Tech has a new head women’s basketball coach.

Antonio Harris joined the CGTC athletics staff in 2014 as the cross country head coach and men’s basketball assistant coach.

“I’m very excited about having an opportunity to head the women’s basketball program here at CGTC,” Harris said in a statement released by the school. “Being a product of the middle Georgia community has been promising for me. My goal is to continue to help these young women achieve their educational or career goals, as well as helping them become more positive, productive members of society and teaching them life skills that will be enhanced by their athletic ability.”

In his first season as an assistant with the men’s program, the Titans went 18-12 and 8-10 in conference play.

Harris, a Macon native, began his coaching career at Howard Middle School in 2005. Since then, he’s held coaching jobs at Tattnall Square Academy and Miller Magnet School and has been the mentor for the Girls in Motion and Middle Georgia Monarchs basketball clubs.
