Harris buzzer-beater lifts Georgia College to win at Clayton State
Harris netted 28 points in the ballgame, but none more important than the last two. With 12 seconds left and the game tied 75-75 after Rio McMillian (Chicago Heights, Illinois) ripped down a rebound, Harris went to work.
He drove to the free-throw line, spun and lost the handle on his dribble. After tracking the ball down, he then knocked down a fadeaway jumper with a hand in his face for the game-winner.
The senior guard exploded for 20 points in the second half, finishing with six boards and five assists as well. Harris hit 12-of-18 shots.
Freshman Isaac Thomas (Trion) was dominant as well, posting a double-double at 11points and 14 boards, adding four assists of his own. The double-double was the third of his rookie season. Freshman guard Chaz Berry (Fayetteville) added 14 points, including 11 in the first half to lead the Bobcats at the break. Senior Dwight Anderson (Minneapolis, Minnesota) added 11 of his own.
The Bobcats were out-shot 45 percent (29-64) to 47 percent (27-58), but Georgia College made up the difference in threes, hitting nine to just three for the Lakers. Alfonso Davis paced Clayton with 29 points and 19 rebounds for a massive night.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 16 at 3:30 p.m., playing host to Armstrong State University.
