Going Green, Saving Green: Christmas Tree Recycling in Hawkinsville

The holidays are over and now it’s time to toss out those trees. The Hawkinsville Better Hometown teamed up with “Keep Georgia Beautiful” and local businesses to help take those trees off your hand now until January 14th.

There are 3 convenient locations for residents to drop off their trees. The locations for the drop off sites are Fred’s parking lot off Broad st., Veteran’s Park, and the last place to get rid of that tree is the City landfill.

Residents should remove all ornaments from the tree before tossing it into the recycling bin.

This is the third year the Hawkinsville Better Hometown is participating in the “Bring One for the Chipper,” Program, and its goal is to have more than 100 trees recycled.

The City will turn all the collected trees into mulch, which helps keep moisture in the ground. The mulch is also great for gardening.

After January 14th anyone can go to the Hawkinsville Better Hometown office and ask for free mulch and seed packets.
