UPDATE: Wanted woman arrested after gunfire during struggle with investigator
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says LaCount fired two rounds during the encounter, including one toward an investigator who was unharmed.

UPDATE (10/10/26): Amber LaCount was arrested Saturday after the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says she fired two gunshots during a struggle with an investigator in Bibb County.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators received an anonymous tip that LaCount was in the Westhaven Drive area. Investigators found the vehicle she was believed to be driving and initiated a traffic stop at Westhaven Drive and Pine Forest.
The sheriff’s office says LaCount got out of the driver’s side and tried to run before an investigator tackled her. During the encounter, investigators say LaCount pulled out a gun and fired one round.
The sheriff’s office says she fired a second round toward the investigator as they struggled over the gun. The investigator gained control of the weapon and took LaCount into custody.
The investigator was unhurt.
LaCount is being held at the Bibb County Jail and faces additional charges related to the encounter. The sheriff’s office has not announced those charges.
She also faces an armed robbery charge in Monroe County. The investigation remains ongoing.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 19-year-old woman it says is wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Monroe County and a theft in Bibb County.
Deputies say Amber LaCount is believed to be armed and dangerous.
According to the sheriff’s office, the armed robbery happened Thursday in Monroe County. No further information was provided about either case.
The sheriff’s office says LaCount is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 147 pounds.
