Georgia unemployment rate continues to drop below national average

ATLANTA , Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Georgia’s unemployment rate has been steadily dropping for 14 consecutive months since April of 2020 as jobs increase.

The current unemployment rate sits at 4.0% for the month of June, where it was previously 4.1% in May of 2021. The national unemployment average sits at 5.9%, now putting Georgia almost 2% below the national average.

Governor Kemp applauded the numbers and made the statement that, “Georgia’s economic momentum continues as jobs increase and our unemployment rate remains the lowest of the ten most populous states,”.

The number of unemployed from May to June of 2021 has dropped by 5,000 to a 208,033 total. Which is down 414,000 since the beginning of the pandemic sent unemployment skyrocketing.
