Georgia Tech holds on for 86-80 win over Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Georgia Tech snapped a 10-game losing streak to Florida State with an 86-80 victory on Wednesday night.

Marcus Georges-Hunt led the Yellow Jackets (14-12, 4-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) with 27 points and Adam Smith added 25. Quinton Stephens had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Freshman Terance Mann had a career-high 18 points and five rebounds for Florida State while Devon Bookert scored 15 and Xavier Rathan-Mayes 12. After winning four straight, the Seminoles (16-10, 6-8 ACC) have dropped their last three.

Florida State trailed midway thru the second half by as many as 17 but steadily chipped away and was able to get within 82-80 with 24.1 seconds remaining on a Dwayne Bacon driving layup.  But Georgia Tech iced it by making its last four free throws.
