Georgia Southern hires Summers as head football coach

STATESBORO, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Southern has chosen its next head football coach.

Tyson Summers, who spent 2015 as the defensive coordinator and safeties coach under Mike Bobo at Colorado State, will be introduced in a news conference December 26th, according to a school release.

Summers, from Tifton, coached safeties at Georgia Southern in 2006.

He replaces Willie Fritz, who left Statesboro after two season to take the head coaching job at Tulane.
