Georgia remains undefeated after 3-2 win over West Virginia

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Brent Epps was brilliant in relief, holding off West Virginia in the final two innings Monday to secure the 3-2 win for Georgia.

The boys from Northern Little League (Columbus) tied the game at two in the third inning off Colton Joyner’s RBI.  Joyner (3-3, 2 RBI) added the go-ahead run in the fourth on another RBI single.

Leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Epps came on to pitch for Georgia in a bases-loaded, no outs situation but managed to get out of the inning still ahead.

West Virginia also loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the final inning, but Epps again escaped without giving up a run.  In two innings of work, the pitcher recorded four strikeouts and gave up one hit.

Georgia will play Florida (1-1) Tuesday at 4 in the final pool play game for both teams.  The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday.
