Georgia Department of Corrections holds job fair
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) held a mass hiring job fair today at their headquarters in Forsyth Thursday.
Interested applicants were encouraged to attend the event, which took place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
After passing the necessary requirements and background checks, eligible candidates where hired right on the spot.
“Recruiting and retention is the backbone of the Department of Corrections,” said Benjamin Ford, the warden at the Burruss Correctional Training Center. “It’s very important to have additional officers that are coming aboard and willing to work in the field of corrections.”
Applicants had to be 18 years-old, with a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and could possess no felony convictions on their record. Potential candidates also had to pass on-site physical fitness tests as well
“It’s a great team to be apart of,” continued Ford, describing what it’s like to work for the GDC. “We’re always recruiting and looking for exciting folks to come aboard.”
