GC’s Gibbs named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. (GC ATHLETICS) – Georgia College basketball player Kadesha Gibbs (Claremont, North Carolina) was named the AstroTurf/Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week. Gibbs performed exceptionally well in three Peach Belt matchups this past week, to earn her third weekly honor this year.

Gibbs averaged over 16 points a game and eight rebounds per contest in the week of Jan. 4. During Monday’s contest against Georgia Southwestern State University, she earned 23 points along with six boards. Later that week, Gibbs scored 12 points against the University of Montevallo, in addition to eight boards and four assists. Wrapping up the week with a game against No. 14 Columbus State University Saturday, Gibbs registered 14 points and 10 rebounds, securing her fourth double-double this year. To add to her record, she performed a pair of assists in Saturday’s game, and recorded three steals against the Cougars.

Gibbs averaged over 34 minutes per contest this week, shooting 44 percent on 17-of-39. She ranks fourth in the PBC for both scoring and rebounding with an average of 15.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

Gibbs and her teammates return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at Clayton State University, with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
