GC baseball releases 2015 schedule
The Bobcat baseball slate starts as it often does, a showdown with perennial powerhouse No. 2 University of Tampa Feb. 7-8. The Bobcats were one of just two teams to beat the Spartans during the regular season last year.
The home-opener comes the following Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. against Newberry College. Peach Belt Conference (PBC) action opens on the road, a three-game set at Flagler College Feb. 21-22. The Bobcats also travel to No. 24 USC Aiken to close out the month of February with another three-game conference series.
No. 12 Columbus State University is the featured opponent for the first PBC home series, a single Friday matchup March 11 at 4 p.m. with a 1 p.m. doubleheader March 12.
The Bobcats have a solid seven-game home stretch in late March, three bouts each with the University of Montevallo and Barry University sandwiching a single contest against Erskine College. The Montevallo series March 20-22 will also be this year’s Alumni Weekend, complete with honoring the fifth anniversary of the World Series Bobcat team from 2010.
Tuesday, April 7 will be Georgia College’s Annual Miracle League game, this time taking on Emmanuel College.
The final ranked opponent of the season comes in the form of PBC Champion No. 4 Lander University April 10-12 on the road.
The Bobcats will honor their senior class at the final home contest of the year, Sunday, May 2 at 1 p.m. against GRU Augusta.
Georgia College went 35-17 in 2014, advancing to the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament for the second-straight season. The Bobcat offense led all of Division II baseball in runs scored a year ago, and return key pieces in consensus All-American catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Michigan) as well as All-PBC honorees in first baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville) and Jake Sandlin (Evans).
