A Bibb County sheriff’s deputy shot 24-year-old DeMichael Wilmore in the arm Thursday night.
A news release says the sheriff’s office received a 911 call in reference to possible shots fired in the area near Prentice Place in Macon. A deputy was dispatched to the area and saw Wilmore standing near a small pickup truck.
After asking to show the his hands, the deputy claims Wilmore had a gun and started to raised the gun toward the deputy — that’s when the deputy fired a shot.

The deputy was not injured.
The GBI is conducting an independent investigation to figure out what happened during the incident. After that’s complete, the GBI will turn over its findings to the Bibb County Judicial Circuit District Attorney for any possible action.
