Friday to be hot and partly sunny

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures are expected to reach their peaks for the week Friday afternoon across Middle Georgia.
This Evening
A warm and sunny afternoon will become a clear and mild night around Middle Georgia. The wind will be light generally from the west with temperatures mainly staying in the 60s through the night. Temperature valleys should still largely be in the upper 50s, however.
Tomorrow
Friday is expected to be the hottest day of the week with upwards of a third of Middle Georgia reaching 90 degrees for the high. Skies should be mostly clear save for scattered cumulus clouds during the heat of the afternoon. The wind will be light and variable, offering little help for those trying to cool off. Anyone spending ample time outdoors should stay hydrated and wear sunscreen as the UV index will hover around 10. This translates to 30 minute or less for sunburning to begin for those who are unprotected.
Overnight will be mostly clear and mild with most low temperatures hovering around the 60 degree mark or just above it. The wind will be light out of the west-southwest.
This Weekend
Saturday will continue the hot trend under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures should largely reach the upper 80s however the hottest spots should eclipse 90. It will also be a bit breezy in the afternoon as wind flows from the southwest at 10-15 mph. Gusts should reach to around 20 mph. Cloud cover will increase into the overnight hours as a cold front approaches from the north.
Sunday will be a good bit cooler and also plenty windy as the aforementioned cold front arrives in the northwestern counties of Middle Georgia during the morning hours. Expect mostly cloudy skies throughout the day with a few isolated rain showers possible. A rumble of thunder is also possible although quite unlikely. High temperatures in the 70s are expected to return starting Sunday afternoon thanks to the cold front, but the rain odds mentioned above will do little to help thirsty crops and drought stricken land.
