FPD names Sarah Conort next head volleyball coach
“I’m excited to join the FPD family,” Conort said. “I am very fortunate and enthusiastic to be working with such a talented group of players and skilled coaching staff.”
Conort makes her way to FPD from Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, GA, where she earned a two-year scholarship playing volleyball for the Bears.
Athletic Director Greg Moore says Conort stood out as the top candidate in the interview process.
“Our volleyball girls are going to love Sarah Conort,” Moore said. “She’s young, energetic, understands the game, and she’s fired up about getting started.”
Her volleyball experience isn’t the only upside. Conort also understands the importance of ministering to others, having lead youth camps in Venezuela for three years and assisting in various Vacation Bible Schools. Conort served on the Truett-McConnell cheerleading team for two years and graduated in 2014 with a B.S. in Middle Grades Education. She will teach at the middle school level upon her arrival.
“Sarah’s experiences off the court make her a great fit for the mission of our school,” Moore said. “Her desire to share the gospel and put her faith in action with our sports program is exciting.”
The Lady Vikings have advanced to the GHSA Class-A State Playoffs each year of varsity competition, and Conort is optimistic about the team’s future.
“I am eager to see the program excel to new levels while resting on the foundation that has already been put in place,” Conort said.
