Fire breaks out at First Quality in Macon
It happened around 6:30 p.m. at the First Quality plant on Industrial Highway.
While there weren’t any visible flames shooting out of the building, several fire trucks were on the scene around 8 p.m. trying to contain the smoke.
41NBC spoke with Macon-Bibb Fire Chief Marvin Riggins around 9 Wednesday night. He says one of the product processing units caught fire. The fire then spread into the duct system, which took it to a different part of the building.
Riggins said less than 10 employees were at the plant when the blaze started, and at this point there are no reported injuries.
He also added, employees mentioned that electrical issues with the machine may have caused the fire.
Riggins says the situation is under control.
