FAA might let drones fly over people
(CNN) The Federal Aviation Administration is being asked to relax its rules on drones.
Right now, operators are largely banned from flying drones over people.
The rules are meant to minimize potential injury to those on the ground.
But that could change if a panel that included members of the drone industry, airlines and realtors gets its way.
Under the group’s proposed rule, drones would have to fly 20 feet above people’s heads, with a 10-foot buffer space on all sides.
The FAA will review the suggested rules and open them up for public comment. after that, the FAA will propose official rules.
