Dublin prepares for New Year’s Eve Shamrock Drop

DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Emerald City is getting ready for its 2nd Shamrock Drop.

The New Year’s Eve event starts at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bicentennial Plaza downtown. The lighted shamrock will descend from the historic Fred Roberts building. There will be games, activities for children, food and entertainment from Bob Cummings and the Reflections band as well as DJ Mark Cannon.

“We really try to encourage people to come downtown. We want downtown to be a center for our community and for everybody to feel welcome. Part of the way we do that is by hosting events down here, Shamrock Drop being one of them,” said Ginny Crowson, the Program Coordinator for the Dublin Downtown Development Authority.

The Shamrock Drop is a free event. Part of Bellevue Avenue (U.S. Highway 80) will be closed that night.
