DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 41-year-old Dublin man has been sentenced to 56 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia, Antonio Lamar King also received a $1,500 fine and will serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.

The release says Dublin police found King with a Smith and Wesson Model SD40VE .40-caliber pistol during an encounter in May 2025.

Federal law prohibits people previously convicted of felonies from possessing firearms or ammunition. There is no parole in the federal prison system.

King was one of four men sentenced in separate federal firearms cases announced in the news release.

A 38-year-old Baxley man, Ryan Lee Borders, received 130 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Georgia State Patrol found Borders with a Beretta 9 mm pistol during a May 2024 traffic stop, according to the release.

A 63-year-old Jackson man, Charles K. Carceller, received 42 months in prison, a $1,500 fine and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possessing an unregistered firearm. The release says Carceller possessed multiple firearms and accessories, including an unregistered silencer, in Chatham County in July 2022.

A 32-year-old Port Wentworth man, Yusef Rashad Butler, received 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Georgia State Patrol found Butler with a HS Produkt Hellcat 9 mm pistol during an August 2025 traffic stop in Chatham County, according to the release.

“These defendants demonstrated a blatant disregard for federal law in possessing these firearms,” U.S. Attorney Margaret E. “Meg” Heap said. “With our law enforcement partners, we will continue our work to hold accountable those who illegally possess guns and threaten the safety of our communities.”

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Georgia State Patrol, Dublin Police Department, Savannah Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies assisted with the investigations.
