Crystal Lake Apartments receiver, NAACP helping displaced residents move

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb County Chapter of the NAACP and Strategic Management Partners (SMP), the court-appointed receiver for Crystal Lake Apartments in Macon, are partnering to help former residents from the mid and high-rise buildings move.

According to a news release from SMP lawyer Brent Marshall, because of broken elevators and no electricity, many former residents couldn’t move their larger furniture and other belongings from the property before Macon-Bibb Fire Marshals closed the buildings.

SMP obtained permission from the fire marshal to allow entry into the building to help former residents move Saturday, April 27th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The news release says SMP plans to hire professional movers to help the former residents remove their property. The NAACP is providing moving trucks for the former tenants.

Marshall says former tenants must bring their apartment keys to allow movers to gain access to the apartments.

To make sure enough personnel can accommodate everyone as efficiently as possible, SMP kindly requests that former residents who plan on attending the moving day contact either:

  • Angela Lunde with SMP at (762) 233-4134
  • Gwenette Westbrooks with Macon-Bibb County NAACP at (478) 745-9944
