Crawford coroner indicted on violation of oath of office charge
ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Crawford County Coroner Allen O’Neal was indicted today, after he was accused of violating his oath of office.
District Attorney David Cooke claims O’Neal didn’t respond to a death call in May and also ordered the deputy coroner not work that case. Investigators say O’Neal fire him once he did respond.
The governor’s office is receiving a copy of the indictment. The governor is expected to appoint a commission to review the case to determine whether O’Neal will be suspended from office since he’s an elected official.
