MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – High temperatures Thursday afternoon will be the lowest they’ve been since late spring across Middle Georgia tomorrow.

This Evening

It’s been a cloudy one around Middle Georgia this afternoon and while some clearing is expected through the evening plenty of clouds will stick around. In fact, more low level cloud cover is likely to fill in through the night leading into Thursday morning. It will be the coolest night so far this week with temperatures reaching their valleys in the low to mid 60s across the region. Northeast winds of 5-12 mph will continue through the night with gusts reaching to around 17 mph.

Tomorrow

The cloud cover will stick around Thursday leading to a gloomy feel around the region. To go with these overcast skies will be the coolest afternoon Middle Georgia has seen since the late spring. Temperatures will reach the mid 70s for most of the region as the wind flows out of the north-northeast at 5-15 mph. Gusts will likely reach over 20 mph for much of the region during the afternoon hours. While rain is not expected a couple of sprinkles cannot be ruled out.

Overnight will begin on a cloudy note however some clearing is likely after midnight leading up to the sunrise on Friday. This will be the coolest night in months as well as temperatures valley in the mid to upper 50s around Middle Georgia, or about 5 degrees below average for this time of year. The wind will continue out of the north-northeast around 6-12 mph. Gusts should still range 15-20 mph.

Friday and Beyond

Sunny skies will return Friday and it will be the most beautiful day Middle Georgia has seen in a hot minute. Temperatures will peak around 80 degrees and the wind will flow out of the north around 5 mph. Mostly sunny conditions should continue through the weekend along with below average temps. A warming trend is likely into the next work week, however, and we may not be done overall with highs in the 90s.
