Macon golf tournament benefits scholarships, Children’s Miracle Network
The four-person scramble brought 54 players to River North Country Club and benefited the Miss Macon Scholarship Fund and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Miss Macon Organization hosted its 13th annual “Teeing Off for Children and Education” golf tournament Friday at River North Country Club in Macon.
The tournament brought together 54 players for a four-person scramble benefiting the Miss Macon Scholarship Fund and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
April Montgomery, executive director of the Miss Macon Scholarship Organization, says the scholarship program helps young women pursue higher education while giving back to their communities through service initiatives.
“The scholarship is real important for the young ladies who contribute to the program,” Montgomery said. “They dedicate hours to their communities giving back to support their community service initiatives, so we want to help support them in their efforts of going to college and benefiting their communities as well.”
Organizers say the tournament raised approximately $5,000 last year. This year’s goal was to raise $10,000.
Players also had the opportunity to enter a special drawing for a pair of diamond earrings donated by Forever Diamonds.
The Miss Macon Scholarship Organization provides scholarship opportunities for young women as they pursue their personal and professional goals.
