Connie Mize remains Jones County clerk for now

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Connie Mize, the Jones County clerk who was arrested and charged for shoplifting at a Putnam County Wal-Mart on Friday, will keep her job for now.

According to a police report, a Wal-Mart employee saw Mize placing more items in her bags than she scanned in the self-checkout line.

A decision on Mize’s future as the county clerk will be decided at the end of the investigation, that’s according to Jones County Chairman of the Board, Preston Hawkins.

Attorney Gregory Bushway says his client is innocent and he will clear name.

Mize was released from the Putnam County Jail on a $780.00 cash bond
