Commissioners approve renaming of Macon City Auditorium

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb Commissioners voted 5-4 Tuesday to rename the Macon City Auditorium after former mayor C. Jack Ellis.

The building will be named C. Jack Ellis City Auditorium, according to the resolution, which was sponsored by Commissioner/Mayor Pro Tem All Tillman.

Commissioners Joe Allen, Valerie Wynn, Scotty Shepherd, and Mallory Jones voted against the idea.

The vote followed a public hearing Tuesday afternoon and a statement made by Mayor-Elect Lester Miller last week after the committee of the whole’s approval of the resolution.
