Change in Cherry Blossom Festival schedule causes drop in attendance at Sunday’s Pink Pancake Breakfast
The fire department puts on the event, which features not only pink pancakes but also sausage, coffee and orange juice.
The breakfast is usually held on the two Saturdays during the festival, but bad weather forced the second Saturday event to Sunday.
“This morning was a bit different than what a typical Saturday would do,” Riggins says. “Also because it was a bit windy this morning and it was still a little bit cooler this morning as well. The turnout this morning wasn’t like it was last Saturday when we had just a spectacular Saturday weather-wise and temperature wise, but it was a good turnout this morning. I’m glad to see as many people did come out and share with us this morning, but there is a great difference in last Saturday and this Sunday morning.”
Proceeds from both the pancake breakfasts go to the American Cancer Society.
The festival comes to a close Sunday night, but post-festival events are still going on through next weekend. For a full list of those events, visit cherryblossom.com.
