Chainsaw carvers work to raise money for cystic fibrosis in Gray
The annual ‘Chaptacular’ is this weekend in Gray.
The event showcases wood work from more than 50 carvers from 20 states. Event-goers can watch, participate in auctions, and buy art.
One visitor from Wisconsin says he makes the trip every year and is happy the money raised will go toward finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
“Every so often we get these nice fundraisers like this where we can come, we can network, we can mingle, we can see our old friends. There’s no stress and it’s just enjoyable to spend time and the food down here is fantastic,” Jerry Schiefer said.
The event is named after Chap Nelson who puts on the event every year. His nephew, Luke, is battling cystic fibrosis and the money raised during the auction portions of the weekend will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The chainsaw carving event will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 541 Hungerford Road in Gray.
