Cary named GC cross country coach

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia College didn’t go far for Dr. Joe Samprone’s replacement.

The school announced Wednesday it’s chosen Steven Cary as the school’s new head cross country coach, according to a school release. Samprone announced Monday he’s retiring after 15 seasons.

“I am excited for the opportunity to become the next head coach of the Bobcat cross country teams,” Cary said in a statement. “Without a doubt, Georgia College is the absolute best fit for myself and my family. I give credit to coach Samprone for giving me a chance to join his staff four years ago–for that I am forever grateful.”
