Body found close to missing woman’s home in Peach County

PEACH COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -UPDATE: Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese says the body found behind the shed had no signs of trauma on the body that would have caused the death.

Sheriff Deese still cannot confirm that the body belonged to missing woman, Amanda Peeples. He did say the body was found in a shed behind the house she lived in on Sherwood Blvd in Byron.

Sheriff Deese says Peeples walked off December 16 and was reported missing December 19.

The GBI Crime Lab is conducting toxicology and DNA tests to determine if that body found is Peeoples.

The Peach County Sheriff’s Office and GBI investigators are currently conducting interviews with neighbors and people who lived in the house. This is being treated as a death investigation.

The Peach County Sheriff’s Office is waiting on autopsy results to identify the body of a woman that was found in a shed Friday.

Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese couldn’t confirm if the body was that of Amanda Peeples, who was reported missing in December, but said the body was found very close to where Peebles lived and was last seen.

Deese says the body had been decomposing for so long that the coroner couldn’t identify the body, other than declare it was a female. An autopsy was conducted Monday and the sheriff’s office is waiting on the results.

41NBC will continue to update this story.
