Bibb deputies: Girlfriend runs over, kills boyfriend following fight

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Witness statements helped deputies crack a Friday night murder investigation, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Those witnesses told investigators that Tasha Yolanda Phillips and 24-year old Martegus Jamell Johnson of Macon were arguing, when Phillips hit him with her 2004 Black Ford Explorer.  She’s charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. 

When patrol deputies initially arrived at the scene, they responding to a call of someone screaming for help.  They found Johnson unconscious on the ground. He was later pronounced dead at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.  When Phillips gave her account of what happened, she told deputies that she and Johnson were in the area to buy drugs, drug dealers attacked them, and the drug dealers ran over Johnson with their SUV.

Phillips also faces charges for tampering with evidence and will be taken to jail when she’s released from a local hospital.
