Bibb County School District hosts Lunch and Learn Assembly for Attendance Awareness

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Department of Education reports 34-percent of Bibb County Students were absent up to two weeks in 2011.

To show students the importance of regular school attendance, Bibb County Officials held an assembly during lunch.

They played games and received advice from college students.

“It tells the students how important it is to be at school, to be on time, and to being in class. So, maybe it can drop down on the skipping rate and hopefully give people motivation to be in school,” said Janel Moore, a sophomore at Howard High School.

Throughout the month of September, students have been encouraged to take the 180 day challenge to attend school every day, all day, and on time.
