16-year-old dies in Bibb County crash involving overturned truck

Deputies say the victim was riding in the truck bed when the driver lost control.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 16-year-old is dead after a crash involving an overturned pickup truck in Bibb County, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the crash happened around 7:51 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Vinson Road and Liberty Church Road.

According to a news release, the driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling off-road when the driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn.

Investigators say a 16-year-old passenger riding in the truck bed was ejected from the vehicle. Deputies identified the victim as Harrison Doyle Morris, who was found unresponsive at the scene.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones pronounced Morris dead at the scene.

The 16-year-old driver, a front seat passenger and a 15-year-old rear passenger inside the truck were all injured and taken to a local hospital. Deputies say their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.
