Woman found dead in backyard of vacant Macon home

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is trying to determine how a woman died. Her body was found in the backyard of a vacant home Wednesday night.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the body was discovered by someone in the area who was looking for the source of a bad smell. The home is on Columbus Road near Grosso Avenue.

“We’re asking the public if they have any missing female relative, if they reported that person missing or if they haven’t seen that person and they hang out in the Columbus Road area to please give the sheriff’s office a call,” Sgt. Howard said.

The woman hasn’t been identified, and police wouldn’t disclose the woman’s age or race. The body was badly decomposed, according to the sheriff’s office. She was wearing a red shirt with the words “Thing 1” on it.

If you have any information that will help investigators, call the Sheriff’s Office at (478) 751-7500.
