Baldwin HS Athletic Director hopes scoreboard will bring energy, excitement
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Baldwin High School in Milledgeville is looking to add some excitement and energy to its football stadium.
“A level of excitement and electricity,” said Baldwin Athletic Director Dr. Henry Hankerson.
The Baldwin High School football stadium has already been painted as a great place to be Friday night.
“We have the nice facilities–everyone can see that,” said Hankerson.
But Hankerson wants to add his own brush stroke into the picture.
“Adding the scoreboard would be another focal point and centerpiece,” said Hankerson.
He wants fans eyes to be drawn to a full video scoreboard.
“Broaden the horizons for what we have and make the Baldwin Braves stand out on the map,” said Hankerson.
As he looks toward that bright horizon line–the 200 thousand dollar price tag on the board is worth it.
“The scoreboard project will open up just so many different opportunities,” said Hankerson.
There are opportunities that will stretch long past the field goalposts.
“Part of that will also have us with the capabilities from the video aspects of the board to reach out into the communities to begin to bridge with the various businesses,” said Hankerson.
Marketing students could have the opportunity to sell ads, and video production students could create those ads to play on the board.
“It just helps bring the entire community together,” said Hankerson.
That’s what the school board liked when Hankerson presented his plan to them at the board retreat recently.
“I thought that the board was very excited about the opportunities we have with the scoreboard,” said Hankerson. “From the aspects of the different ads and the video screen components, and from the standpoint of the things we can do with our students in the classroom.”
Painting a picture that includes the whole community as a part of the stadium.
