Baldwin County Commissioner quits hospital board and seeks investigation into Milledgeville city council

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A member of the Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority resigns after listening to an unathorized taped conversation of the Milledgeville City council. Now Henry Craig wants an investigation.

Craig sent his resignation to Milledgville Mayor, Richard Bently, Tuesday.

Craig was on the Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority board but did not have a vote.

The Baldwin County Commissioner says what he heard on the audio tape was unethical and immoral.

“I’d like to see the city council and the mayor and community do an appropriate ethical and moral evaluation of what happened,” says Baldwin County Commissioner, Craig.

Milledgeville Councilman Walter Reynolds recorded the conversation between council members without their knowledge following a called meeting, which was held three months ago.

Council members suggested moving more than five millions dollars from a Century Bank, where bank president, Chat Daniel
wrote a column critizing the council.

According to the audio tape city council members wanted to move the money to another bank in retalliation against the Daniel.
