Suspect arrested after attempting to escape law enforcement

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested one man who attempted to elude capture after a reckless driving incident Sunday night.

The suspect, 30-year-old Demario Chantez Riggins, was seen just before 9:00 p.m. driving a brown colored Ford Crown Victoria without using his headlights. As the deputy tried to stop the vehicle on Newburg Avenue, Riggins fled onto Evergreen Drive, then failed to turn onto Hightower Road. He lost control and ran into a ditch.

Riggins left the area on foot, but was later arrested at his home without incident. He was charged with Driving without Headlights On, Reckless Driving, and Felony Fleeing and Eluding of a Peace Officer. He was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

A passenger was transported to the Medical Center, Navicent Health and is listed in good condition.
