Temperatures will struggle to get out of the 30s today

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A front brings some of the coldest weather we’ve seen this winter. Today will challenge January 23rd of this year when our high was only 39. I’m putting the high at 41 today, but don’t be surprised if you struggle to get out of the 30s.

Extra clouds are moving into the area today. Expect a mix of sun and clouds today, probably a bit on the cloudier side. And that will likely determine whether or not you get to the 40s today. Either way, temperatures are going to be far below the average. And with winds possibly getting up to 20 mph and maybe gusts to 25 or 30, the wind chill will be largely be in the 30s, with some 20s possible.

Those cold temperatures continue overnight. I’m putting our morning low at around 24, and it’ll be breezy, so it’ll feel as if it’s in the 10s. Tomorrow afternoon will be much sunnier with highs in the mid 40s.

Sunshine continues for the rest of the week as temperatures moderate to the mid 50s by Friday, which is still cooler than average. Another strong cold front will yank highs back down to the 40s by Sunday.
