Unsigned seniors get recruiting info, sign up for last-chance football showcase
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you’re a high school senior who played football this past season and still don’t have a college offer, don’t worry. There’s still plenty of time to get one.
Signing Day is next week, but that’s actually the start of the signing period—not the end.
Around two dozen people went to a recruiting information session Wednesday night at Central High School to learn some recruiting tips and register for a showcase next weekend in Atlanta, where kids can show some college coaches what they’ve got.
“It’s about helping,” Central football coach Jesse Hicks says. “We’re trying to help. At the end of the day, you want to go to college and you want to graduate. You want to be able to have a living for yourself and make a decent living, so that’s what going to school is all about. Football is just part of it. It’s a very small part of it. It’s the education at the end. Walking across the stage, getting your diploma is the most important thing.”
If you weren’t able to make the information session, there’s still time to get registered for the showcase. It’s on February 6 at Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta from 2-5 p.m. A bus will be leaving from Central High School that afternoon.
