UPDATE: Man convicted in 2022 Baldwin County killing; sentencing set for Monday

Lorenzo Mither Brown will be sentenced September 14 after a jury convicted him in the September 2022 shooting death of Chavonta Braddy.

UPDATE (9/12/26):  A Baldwin County jury convicted Lorenzo Mither Brown of murder Friday in the 2022 shooting death of Chavonta Braddy, according to a Facebook post from the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

The district attorney’s office said Brown shot Braddy on September 27, 2022.

Brown’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday, September 14.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Milledgeville Police Department and Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. Assistant District Attorney Savanna Neal prosecuted it.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a man was found dead at his home Tuesday.

A Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office news release says Baldwin 911 received a call just after 12:30 p.m. in reference to a family member finding 27-year-old Chavonta Braddy dead in his home, located at 129-A Edwards Street.

Deputies arrived at the home and found a vehicle parked outside “riddled with gunfire.” Braddy was found inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Milledgeville Police and the Fugitive Squad are assisting in the investigation.
