Yarn Bombing for the homeless
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A group of knitters and crocheters are trying to bring attention to the city’s homeless donation stations.
The Creative Yarn Group began “yarn bombing” the stations (similar to graffiti, except with yarn) at Terminal Station.
From there, they went to several stations across the city, including those at First Presbyterian Church, Macon Arts Alliance and Georgia College and State University.
Yarn bombing the city was Helen Meadors’ idea.
“A lot of people think of knitting as an elderly lady making a shawl,” she explained. “But there are young and very creative knitters.”
Meadors hopes yarn bombing will increase the money given at the stations.
